Ask in plain English
Answers come from your own books.
Numbers, lists and charts
Ask about profit, who owes you, open bills, stock on hand or one transaction. Answers read the books in this workspace, and a profit and loss or aging answer brings its chart.
Links to the right page
Ask where something is, like where to reconcile. Copilot links the real page by the menu's own names, and never a page your role cannot open.
Knows the page you're on
A chip above your message names the page you are on, such as Account register or Customers, so a question can be about what you are looking at. Click its X to leave it out.

“Don't know where to go to find something? Simply start a chat. Not skilled in doing Journal Entries, no worries, just tell AI what you want to accomplish, it does the work and waits for your approval to post it.”BooksGPT review on G2, Sep 24
Drop any document
Each file goes to its own review.
Bills, statements and receipts
Drag PDFs, JPGs or PNGs onto the ask box, up to 10 in one drop. BooksGPT reads each one and works out what it is.
Receipts find their charge
When a receipt matches a charge already in your books, Copilot offers to link the file to it as evidence. The charge itself does not change.
You review each file
A bill, receipt or bank statement you drop waits for your review, and nothing posts or pays until you approve it. A settlement statement from a store you already set up posts on its own.
You approve every change
Nothing changes until you say so.
Untick what you don't want
A list card shows each row it would change. Untick two and Approve all 5 becomes Approve 3. The rows you leave out can come back as a new card.
Undo from History
Every approved change is listed in History. Most can be undone for 30 days, and a card that cannot be undone says so before you approve it.
Your role decides
A Viewer can ask but cannot change the books. Renames, merges and journal entries need an Owner or Bookkeeper.
Books checkup
What needs you, in one list.
After imports and overnight
A checkup runs after an import, after a new bank connection first syncs, and overnight when something new shows up. A quiet night means nothing changed.
Duplicates and loose ends
It names possible duplicate transactions, empty duplicate accounts and statements that were read but never imported, and counts what waits in To Review.
Ask for one any time
Ask Run my books checkup any time. Copilot checks review, bank feeds, reconciliation and unfinished statements, and offers up to three next steps.
Things people ask it
Type it the way you'd say it.
Questions about your numbers
Which month was best, who owes you money, how a quarter compares. Answers come from your books, with the figures that back them.
Jobs it prepares for you
Categorize these, invoice a customer, match a deposit to its invoices, close a month. Each one arrives as a card, and nothing changes until you confirm it.
Where things are
Where do I reconcile? Where did the payroll file go? Copilot names the page, or the place a file landed, with a link.

Questions, answered.
No. Copilot prepares each change as a card, and it applies only when you approve it, on the card or with a yes when Copilot asks. The one file that posts on its own is a settlement statement from a store you already set up.
Most changes can be undone for 30 days from History, under Assistant in All pages. Some cannot, such as merging accounts or deleting transactions, and their card says so before you approve.
From the books in this workspace: your reports, transactions, invoices, bills, receipts and stock. Copilot reads them when you ask. When it points you to a page or a file, it links the real one.
PDFs, JPGs and PNGs, up to 10 in one drop. A vendor bill opens its bill review, a bank statement gets a card to import it, and a receipt is matched to its charge or proposed as an entry for you to save. A CSV or Excel file is treated as books to import.
It can draft a return, not file one. CPA-GPT, under Tax returns, reads your books and drafts a federal return you can download as a PDF, with Schedule C, Form 1065 or Form 1120-S. Review every line with a tax professional. BooksGPT is not a CPA and never files a return.
Anyone in the workspace can ask. Approving a change needs a role that can make the same change by hand, so a Viewer can read but never change the books. Renames, merges and journal entries need an Owner or Bookkeeper.
