Pay by bank
A Pay button on invoices, once switched on.
No fee added for them
Your customer pays the invoice total, nothing more. Your 1% comes out of your payout, rounded to the cent.
Paid from their bank account
They sign in to their bank, or enter its routing and account numbers. If the bank can't be linked right away, it may be checked with small test deposits first.
In emails, reminders and links
The invoice email's View invoice button, each payment reminder and Copy payment link all open the same page with Pay by bank, on USD invoices from $0.50 to $500,000.
Know where every payment is
Never wonder whether a customer paid.
Processing, then received
Bank payments take several business days. The invoice says Processing until the bank confirms, then Received. Your customer's page says Processing, or Confirming while it is checked, then Paid.
Returns, said plainly
If the bank sends a payment back, the invoice shows Returned and its balance is open again, in your books and on your customer's page, where they can pay again.
Refund from the invoice
An owner or bookkeeper can refund all or part of a confirmed payment. The money goes back to the customer's bank, and the invoice updates when the refund completes.
Payouts land on your books
No payout to piece together by hand.
Each payment in full
When the bank confirms a payment, its full amount is recorded in Undeposited Funds and the invoice is paid.
Fees on their own line
The fee is booked to Bank payment fees, an expense account BooksGPT adds when it is needed, so it shows in your profit and loss instead of shrinking the deposit.
Matched to the bank deposit
The payout is recorded in your payout account for its net amount. When your bank feed shows that deposit, BooksGPT matches the two, so it counts once. Anything unclear stays in review for you.
How it works
Questions, answered.
Bank payments. Your customer pays from their bank account, by signing in to their bank or entering its routing and account numbers. Bank payments work on USD invoices from $0.50 to $500,000, and take several business days to clear.
1% of each successful payment, rounded to the cent and taken from your payout. Nothing is added for your customer: they pay the invoice total. Faster settlement, bank verification, failed payments and disputes are priced separately.
An owner or bookkeeper opens Settings, then Invoicing & email, and clicks Start setup under Invoice bank payments. Verify your business, choose your payout bank, then Turn on bank payments. Invoices still send without it.
On your payout schedule: daily, weekly, monthly, or when you request a payout yourself. Settings shows which one applies to you. The bank payments themselves take several business days to clear.
When the bank confirms it, the full amount goes to Undeposited Funds and the invoice is paid. Your 1% fee is booked to Bank payment fees. The payout is recorded as a deposit to your payout account, and matched to the deposit in your bank feed when the match is clear.
Yes. Once a payment is confirmed, an owner or bookkeeper can refund all or part of it from the invoice. The money goes back to your customer's bank, and the invoice balance and your books update when the refund completes.
If the bank declines a payment, no money moved and the invoice is open again. If the bank sends a payment back later, the invoice shows Returned, its balance is open in your books, and your customer can pay again from the same page.
