Checking, savings and cards
Connect checking, savings and credit card accounts at US banks and credit unions. Search for yours by name: the tiles are shortcuts, not the whole list.
Read-only connection
BooksGPT can see your transactions but can never move money. A charge still pending at the bank joins your books when the bank posts it.
Checked on its own
Accounts sync on their own, and Banking shows when each feed was last checked. Re-sync now asks your bank for new transactions, when the bank allows it.

“Bank and credit card transactions come in automatically, the AI handles much of the classification, receipts can be uploaded directly to the Copilot, and I can use plain English to accomplish accounting tasks that would normally require navigating through multiple screens.”BooksGPT review on G2, Sep 26
Categorized as it arrives
Sorted for you. You review and approve.
Your rules, then AI
Your rules run first, and AI suggests a category for the rest. A green sparkle marks its pick, and the picker shows how sure it is.
Approve one or all
In Review inbox, click the green circle to approve one row, or Approve & post all of them. Changed your mind? Undo posting is on the same circle.
Off, Suggest or Auto-post
Suggest is the default: AI fills in a category and the row waits for you. Or turn AI off, or let it post only rows it is at least as sure of as you set.

“BooksGPT looks at all the transactions, so I don’t have to download each individual item. It categorizes them based on the history in the file, flags questions for my review, and nothing gets posted without my approval.”BooksGPT review on G2, Sep 17
Remember this choice
Correct it once. The rest follow.
Always file it this way
Change a category and BooksGPT asks, for example: Always file AMZN Mktp as Office Supplies? Remember saves a rule, and rules run before AI.
Waiting rows follow
When 14 more rows from that merchant wait with no category, the note ticks Also file those 14 now. They get the category and still wait for your approval.
Rules you can edit
See every rule on Categorization rules: add one, edit it, or forget it. Apply rules now files what is waiting, and nothing is posted to your books.
Transfers matched
Money moved between your accounts counts once.
Both sides paired
When both sides are connected, like checking to savings or checking to your credit card, BooksGPT pairs them as one transfer. Neither is income or an expense.
One side? Still a transfer
When only one side is in BooksGPT, choose Transfer to or Transfer from that account in the category picker. It moves cash between accounts and leaves profit and loss alone.
Un-match if it's wrong
Got a pairing wrong? Open the transaction and click Un-match transfer. Both sides go back to To review.
Statements work too
Can't connect an account? Drop in its statement.
PDF, photo, CSV or Excel
Drop up to 25 statements at a time, each up to 25 MB, on Upload a bank statement. BooksGPT reads the transactions on each one.
Checked against its balances
Before you import, the rows are checked against the statement's own beginning and ending balances. When they tie, the card says Statement balances checked.
Duplicates skipped
Rows that look like they are already in your books are skipped when you import. The rest wait in To review, like any bank transaction.
How it works

Questions, answered.
No. The bank connection is read-only. BooksGPT can see your transactions so it can bring them into your books, but it can never move money.
Only if you turn that on. Suggest, the default, fills in a category and waits for your approval. Off imports only, and your rules still run. Auto-post files a row on its own only when AI is at least as sure as the level you set, and income, tax and transfers need 95% whatever you set. Everything else waits in Review inbox.
You choose when you connect: Last 90 days, 6 months, 1 year or a custom date. How far back you can actually go depends on your bank. Some card issuers stop near 90 days, and 1 year appears only when your connection can reach it.
Search for it by name first: the tiles are shortcuts, not the whole list. If it still won't link, upload its statements as PDF, photo, CSV or Excel, or import a CSV of its transactions. Your books and reports work the same on imported transactions.
Checking, savings and credit card accounts at US banks and credit unions. Loan, investment and merchant accounts often won't link. A store or brand card is listed under the bank that issues it, so search for that bank's name.
BooksGPT holds bank transactions your imported books already have, so nothing is counted twice. On Banking, Confirm duplicate keeps the imported one with its categories, and Keep as separate transaction, then Add anyway, adds one that really is new money.
No, it's a transfer from checking to the card. The expenses were recorded when each charge arrived on the card, so counting the payment too would count the same spending twice. When both sides are connected, BooksGPT pairs them; when only checking is, choose Transfer to and the card's account in the category picker.
